Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital Neuro-ophthalmology Outpatient Clinic is one of the specialized units providing services for the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of diseases concerning the complex interaction between the visual pathways of the eye and the central nervous system. Pathologies affecting the optic nerve connecting the eye to the brain, the cranial nerves managing eye movements, and the visual centers are evaluated in our clinic with a multidisciplinary approach.
In our outpatient clinic, optic neuropathies (optic neuritis, ischemic optic neuropathies), papilledema, visual field disorders, pupil abnormalities, neurologically induced double vision, eye movement disorders, and ocular involvement of neuromuscular diseases such as myasthenia gravis are examined with comprehensive diagnostic methods.
Neuro-ophthalmological processes are complex situations that generally require close cooperation with other medical branches such as neurology, neurosurgery, endocrinology, and rheumatology. During the diagnosis phase, the anatomical and functional level of the disease is meticulously determined using next-generation imaging technologies (MRI, CT, OCT, visual field analysis) and electrophysiological tests (VEP, ERG).
The fundamental approach of our clinic is a holistic evaluation process that also considers the systemic condition of the patient. With our academic knowledge and modern diagnostic-treatment infrastructure, we aim to implement accurate diagnosis and treatment protocols for both rare neuro-ophthalmological cases and common visual pathway diseases.
